Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!

We are honored and excited to have your children join us for in-person instruction. We have worked hard all summer to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff.  Every classroom is equipped with PPE and air purifiers. We have daily disinfecting of classrooms, equipment, and playgrounds.  All students and staff are required to wear face masks and go through Temperature Screenings. Hillcrest is adhering to the Garvey School District and Department of Public Health guidelines for mitigating the spread of COVID.

Our mission at Hillcrest Elementary School is to provide students with a top quality education by responding to their individual needs. At Hillcrest we address the whole child. We focus on academics, social emotional growth, leadership skills, Visual and Performing Arts, and extracurricular activities.

We are very proud of our Dual Language Plus program and invite you to learn more about our instructional model for Mandarin/English.  At Hillcrest, we highly value and embrace diversity, being multicultural, and being multilingual.  We are also a Leader in Me school and AVID school.  This year we are looking forward to expanding our PBIS program and having our students explore, create, and problem solve in our Makerspace.

New Staff joining Hillcrest: Ms. Ying Chen (3rd Grade Dual Language Teacher), Ms. Gladys Adame (Home School Coordinator), Ms. Meghan McCarty (Speech), and Ms. Vera Lopez (Health Assistant).

Hillcrest Elementary is a very special place.  It is made so by our wonderful community, parents, students, and staff.  You are invited to join PTA, School Site Council, ELAC, and our monthly Coffee with the Principal. We are a phone call, email, Social Media click away. Together we will get through these challenging times and help students thrive and continue to dream big.

Respectfully,
Dr. Laura Quintana
