Coffee with the Principal: Learning Math Together! 10.16.26

Dear Husky Families, 

Thank you to everyone who joined our Coffee with the Principal and math workshop last Friday! It was wonderful to connect, build community, and develop a shared understanding of how our children learn math.

To clarify our discussion, your child will learn both the visual models we explored and the standard algorithms, the familiar written methods many of us learned in school. Common Core develops these skills across grade levels. Our workshop provided an understanding of visual representations and models we teach our students starting at Kindergarten.  We teach both so students understand mathematics conceptually, why it works, and procedurally, how to calculate accurately and efficiently.

We will be continuing the conversation into mathematical word problems during our December Coffee with the Principal / Parent Workshop. We hope to see you then!
